This truly was an epic event every fight seemed to have one of the classic MMA twists. I think we can all agree though that Roy Nelson's chin can with stand missiles. For all the crap he takes over his gut its only far to give him credit for his ability to take punishment and still come out swinging!
Someone else who took some serious punishment at UFC 117 was Stefan Struve who took some serious ground and pound in round one of his fight against Christian Morecraft. Proving once again in the octagon that you can never tell what's gonna happen as Christian found out when he went toe to toe and crumbled only to be met by a barrage of fists to the face before the ref stopped it!
I also have to mention the fact that Matte Hughes UFC hall of fame'r was seen to be the under dog in this fight for his "out of date style" from what I seen punching guys hard in the face and then putting them to sleep never goes out of style!
I am going to ski[ ahead to the money shot here as i need to get this out before I burst! Silva V Sonnen WOW! what a fight talk about taking it to him! i have to say though all Sonnen needed to was mix it up a little when he was on the ground he seemed to repetitive and also rather than throwing those weak punches in round 5 just lay there man hold him down and collect your belt! NO Silva caught him in a triangle from heel and made him tap with 2 minutes to go - AMAZING! shut that dog up for good! to be honest I think Silva wanted the UFC to see him get bashed about a bit then after 5 rounds thought lets end this after I cut his face open! Silva is legend 12-0 in the UFC 7 tittle defences - both are UFC records! Who's next, tell them to go hide!
